Mt. Biking: Around Felixstowe Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny then cloudy Max Speed: 18.36 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 22 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Monday 3rd October – bike rides *** – 1. Sunrise two rivers. 2. Around
Felixstowe including lunch at Landguard – sunny and cold start then
clouded over.
Being early in the month I was keen to head down to the seafront to catch
the sunrise in order to send some pics to the local TV weather forecasts! I
had a bit of a disturbed night, my achy tooth was playing up and I felt
hot, perhaps the effect of my double flu/covid jab on Saturday? Mag was
sound when I tot up at 6.15 and I decided to head out on my bike as it gave
me more options with my camera, shame my battery failed to work again so I
had to peddle which was no problem as the route was flat. I was down on the
prom at 6.40 and there was a nice hint red in the sky but I soon regretted
not putting my gloves on as it was a tad on the chilly side! I headed to
the Fludgers around to the Dip and made it to the Rive Deben as the sun
appeared and got a few nice pics:) Then onto Felixstowe Ferry with mist
laying on the fields all around. A quick trip through the boat yard then I
took the same route back, despite my hands being cold I carried on past the
pier where I stopped to chat to a couple of friends before continuing to
Landguard Nature Reserve, the view point and home via Langer Park for
breakfast and warm up! I then sorted out my pics and got a three chosen as
Editor’s Picks on the BBC, it remains to be seen if one makes it onto the
TV?
Then exercises in the garden while Mag plants out bulbs while I charge my
bike battery, as lunch time approaches, I make a yummy chicken sandwich and
we head out on the bikes to check my battery which is now working fine. We
head down to Landguard and sit in our favourite jetty enjoying the view
with some interesting clouds but much warmer then early this morning! We
enjoyed our picnic with some noisy gulls with a little boat action. We then
head back along the prom to The Fludgers returning home via Gulpher Road
for a cuppa and cake!
PS – one of this morning’s pics made it onto ITV’s About Anglia
weather :)
